Description

 

Capsule suspension (CS) is formulation containing active ingredient encapsulated by synthetic or natural polymer materials, and the microcapsules suspend in an aqueous phase.

Limitaions

 

• Due to its slow-release nature, its rapid-acting properties are significantly reduced and it is not suitable for use in rapid-acting scenarios

In-situ polymerization

In-situ polymerization is the technique that one or two water-soluble monomers are added to the aqueous phase, polymerization take place and yield polymer microparticles, polymers deposited on the surface of the core material to form microcapsules.

 

Interfacial polymerization

Interfacial polymerization is another commonly used encapsulation technique. In this process, reactive monomers or prepolymers are dissolved in two immiscible phases. Upon droplet formation by dispersion, polymerization takes place on the interface and results in microcapsule formation. Interfacial polymerization method requires one monomer is water-soluble and the other is oil-soluble.
